CPS Trust Awards $21,000 in Teacher Grants
This week, the CPS Trust Board awarded more than $21,000 in teacher grants to Crete Public Schools teachers and staff. Grants will be used to pay for items that enhance learning, but are not necessarily covered in the annual school budget.
This year, grants were awarded to purchase new technology, such as electronic Boogie boards (tablets), Chromebooks, headphones and calculators. Grants will also help pay for new alternative seating, including wobble chairs, stability balls, and stand-up desks. One grant, presented to a 7th grade science teacher, will be used to purchase new specimen slides. The slides currently being used were purchased prior to 1963.
In addition, a $3,795 grant was awarded to the school nurses for the purchase of a portable spot vision screening device that will be used to screen all ages of students throughout the school district for vision issues.
Thank you to Crete Trust Board members Joe Rohach, Gary Williams, Diane Hansmeyer, Jane Fahrnbruch, and Ann Teget and all of the school administrators for helping with this week’s presentations.
All of the grant recipients will also be publically recognized at individual school events this spring. For more information about the CPS Trust or to make a tax-deductible contribution, visit http://bit.ly/2l8rebc
