2018 - 2019 Preschool Application

 

Thank you for your interest in Crete Public Schools Preschool!

1. Preschool Application

Students may apply for participation in the District’s preschool program if the following qualifications are met:

  • Crete residency – Child must reside in the Crete Public School District.

  • Child must be 3 years of age on or before July 31st of the year they enter Preschool. Children who are 5 years of age on or before July 31st should enroll for kindergarten.

  • Child is potty trained.

Application Deadline for Preschool:  Online application will close on May 1st.

Applications received after May 1st will be reviewed and placed if space is available.

Preschool Notification to Parents:

The district will notify parents of the approval of their child’s application on or before June 1st. If the child’s enrollment is not completed by this date, the slot will be given to another child.

 

2.  Priority Enrollment

  • Child has special education verification (IEP)

  • Child is enrolled in Head Start program

  • Family is enrolled in Migrant Education program

  • Child participated in Sixpence program

  • Child qualifies for Free Meal Plan

4.  Rates

Preschool Rates:  Non Priority Students

Full Pay: $40/month

Reduced Pay: $20/month

Monthly preschool tuition does not include meals.

 

Meal Rates:  

Free Meal, Head Start or Migrant Education Program Eligibility: $0

Reduced Meal Eligibility: **$.30 per breakfast meal (AM session),  **$.40 per lunch meal (PM session)

Full Pay Eligibility: **$1.50 per breakfast meal (AM session), **$2.00 per lunch meal (PM session) 


** Meal prices are subject to change.

 

5.  Required Documents

Parents/Guardians will need to submit the following documents directly to the Elementary Office. Your student's registration WILL NOT be complete until the following documents have been received.

 

  • Original Birth Certificate

  • Most current record of updated immunizations.

Preschool Transportation 

 

Limited space available. Not all students who apply will receive bus transportation.

 

1. Priority Students

Students may apply for busing transportation if the following qualifications are met:   

    • Child has special education verification (IEP)

    • Child is currently enrolled in Head Start program

    • Family is enrolled in Migrant Education program

    • Child participated in Sixpence program

    • Child qualifies for Free Meal Plan

In addition to these qualifications, the child must live outside a 4 block radius from the elementary school.

 


2. Application and Notification

 Bus Transportation Application Deadline for Preschool:  Online bus transportation application will close on May 1st.

Applications received after May 1st will be reviewed and placed if space is available.

 

Preschool Notification to Parents:

Parents will be notified of the approval of their child’s busing application on or before June 1st. If the child’s enrollment is not completed by this date, the slot will be given to another child.

 

3. Preschool Bus Transportation Rules and Guidelines

Bus stop locations will be determined after applications have been reviewed.

Not all students who apply for busing will receive transportation.

You will be notified if you will receive bus transportation.

Students will be picked up and dropped off at the same bus stop.

 

Pickup:

  • Your child should be ready when bus arrives. Please be prepared 10 minutes before and after your scheduled bus time due to unpredictable circumstances.

  • An adult must wait with the child at the assigned bus stop.

Drop off:

  • An adult must meet the bus to receive the child at the assigned bus stop.

 

Change of bus stop for pickup and drop off:

  • A limit of two (2) requests per year will be allowed.

  • Changes will occur on the first school day of each month.

  • Change of Bus Stop Request forms must be turned in 1 week prior to the start of the month.

 

Behavior and Respect for Employees:  

  • Parents and children will treat all employees with respect including bus drivers.  

  • Children should not bring food onto the bus.

 

Loss of Bus Transportation:

  1. If the student is not greeted by an adult at the drop off location, the child will be taken to the Crete Elementary Office.

    1. 1st offense - warning

    2. 2nd offense - loss of bus transportation

    3. Law enforcement will be notified when a student is not picked within 30 minutes.

  2. If a student has multiple absences from missing the bus they may be at risk for losing bus transportation.

 

4. Rates

Bus transportation is provided at no charge.
