The Crete Community Learning Center (CCLC) is now in its fourth year of operation. The program is for students in Grades 2-5, with Kindergarten and 1st grade siblings. Presently, 113 children come to the afterschool session and 15-18 attend the before school time. This program provides academic enrichment activities and homework help. Thursday is Club Day. Some of the clubs include Art Club, Construction Zone, Games Galore, Geography Club, Science Club, Walking Club, Crafts Club, and a Sports Stack Club. A special club for 10 sessions is Health Rocks!, sponsored by Saline County 4-H and taught by 4 students from Crete High School. Its purpose is to help young children learn to make healthy choices as they grow up concerning smoking, drinking, and doing drugs.
A yearly activity CCLC does every fall is a field trip to the Roca Berry (Scary) Farm. The children, parents, and staff enjoy a day of visiting all the exhibits, having a picnic lunch, and choosing their favorite pumpkin from the patch.
