Crete Public Schools and the City of Crete team up to provide an after school program for students in grades 6-8.  Cardinal Zone is offered to any student after parent permission has been granted.    A student may also receive extra after school homework assistance at the Homework Zone. Cardinal Zone offers a variety of activities for students. Some of the activities that are available include:  Inside games, outside games and computer time.  There are also special activities planned throughout the year, such as arts and crafts, movies and a lock in at Butler gym and pool.

Cardinal Zone is a joint effort between Crete Public Schools and the City of Crete to provide quality activities for students in the critical after-school period.  The activities are designed to be productive and attractive to students.  There is not a charge to participate at Cardinal Zone. Cardinal Zone is staffed by a combination of talented young people from the Doane College work-study program, Crete City Parks and Rec Department and staff members from Crete Public Schools.
