Parent/Teacher Conferences

Every school schedules times in order for parents to have an opportunity of a face-to-face meeting with their child’s teacher. Conferences for Crete Middle School and High School students are taking place this week. The September 29th date allows for parent/teacher meetings from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. and October 2nd from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. The elementary will hold their conferences on October 13th & 16th. The next scheduled times will occur for all three buildings on February 16th and 19th.
My hope is that parents feel comfortable contacting teachers and/or administrators whenever they have a question or concern. The scheduled parent/teacher (P/T) conference is intended to encourage communication. There is really no substitute for meeting someone in person. Teachers appreciate the opportunity to learn more about their students. Parents can also get a better understanding of the professionals working with their child. A lot of information can be shared in a short amount of time when both parties are sitting down together.
As a father of three children, I have greatly respected the candidness and availability of the teachers and administrators in our district. The educators themselves would be the first to state that they appreciate parents initiating efforts to communicate as opposed to remaining silent with a concern. As a parent, I like hearing positive things about my children; however, I also want to know areas in which they need to improve upon. Please feel strongly encouraged to attend P/T conferences. Both parents and teachers have the same mission when it comes to wanting the best education for the children.
