The ACT and SAT are college entrance tests are taken by students planning to enter 4-year colleges; with the ACT being the most widely used in our area. Registration packets for both tests are available in the Career Center and on-line registration is also possible at www.act.org for the ACT and at www.collegeboard.com for the SAT. Books, CD's, and video's designed to help students be successful on the tests are also available in the Career Center. For testing dates go to www.ACT.org.
Most community colleges and vocational schools offer pre-admission testing by means of the COMPASS test or the ASSET test. Students contact the college to schedule a COMPASS test, which is normally at no cost to the student. In most cases, students then do not need to take the ACT or SAT for admission to these colleges. The ASSET is offered at Crete High school only once during the school year, during the month of October.
The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test is for any junior or senior student interested in the military - either full-time, reserves, or National Guard. Testing is at no charge to the student. The ASVAB is offered at the high school only one time during the year during the month of November, however, military recruiters can also arrange for students to take the ASVAB in Omaha at any time. This year the test will be given on November 13th at the high school.
