8th Grade Essay Winners

8th grade students Jessica V.and Johnny L.were selected as winners by the Police Officers Association of Nebraska. The 500 word essay was written with the theme “Why I Say No to Drugs.” Jessica V. was awarded 3rd place and a cash prize of $100, and Johnny L. received 2nd place and a cash prize of $200.
The essay was an optional assignment in Health class while studying the alcohol, tobacco, and drug unit. Jim Peschong, Assistant Chief of Police and 2nd Vice President Chair of the Police Officers Association, was present at the Middle School Honors Night held May 5, 2008 to make the presentation.
