Nine fourth grade students along with Guidance Counselor Laurie Deibert and CCLC Director Judi Hansmeyer attended “Kids Can…Stop Bullying”, a bullying prevention youth leadership conference on April 9th at the ESU 6. Representing the fourth grade classes and CCLC were Brendan B., Brandon F., Mitchell J., Lupita M., Adriana R., Adriana S., Jon’Nay S., Alyssa W., and Ryan W.,
The students learned about the types of bullying and the “5 Rs”: Respect, Recognize, Refuse, Report, and Responsibility. This was done through interactive lessons, videos, and games. One of the most meaningful learning opportunities came from watching a powerful dramatization of a school bullying situation by the “Respect 2 All” group, followed by a question and answer session.
These fourth graders will now serve as leaders at Crete Elementary and at CCLC to help other students when any type of bullying may occur.
