Third Graders are Chirping for Spring

All Third graders have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of baby chicks. All classes have been studying embryology for the past three weeks. Mr. Eric Stehlik brought 14 eggs to each classroom for the student to observe. Students learned that embryo’s need moisture, heat and air. All pupils learned the inside parts of the egg. Two students were selected to turn the eggs three times a day to keep the membrane from sticking to the side of the shell. Several times during the three week period students helped Mr.Stehlik “candle” the eggs. Students made their personal prediction as to how many eggs would hatch. Each class had some chicks hatch. Of course all the students wanted to play with the chicks and offered them good homes
