On Monday, March 20, 2017, Crete FFA held its 80th Annual Parent/Member Banquet at the Crete High School Commons. The banquet featured a pork loin supper supplied by the Crete FFA Alumni with each FFA member bringing salads, vegetables, and desserts. FFA chapter members, guests, parents, and FFA Alumni were honored and recognized with awards during the banquet. Crete FFA also installed the 2017-2018 Officer team. The evening included the 33rd Annual Crete FFA Labor Auction. Col. Bill Rut served as the auctioneer for his 30th year and was honored for his many years of service and support of Crete FFA. The evening concluded by the drawing of door prizes. Thanks to all area businesses and Crete FFA Alumni who supported Crete FFA with the banquet door prizes and throughout the year. Cardinal Nest second Graders had an exciting time with visiting artists, culminating in a drumming performance for families, friends & teachers.

The Crete High School Quiz Bowl team participated in the Nebraska Wesleyan tournament on Friday, March 10th. Students answered questions from a variety of categories during three rounds in the morning, with a single elimination style tournament in the afternoon. Three Crete teams competed against twenty-two others from Omaha, Lincoln, and surrounding communities.
April 4th is the day to eat at Runza to support TeamMates in Nebraska.

Preschool applications for the 2017-2018 school year will be accepted starting on Tuesday, February 28th. On Tuesday, February 28th, the application form will be available to complete online. The Early Learning Center, located at 1122 Main Ave. in Crete, will have staff available from 9:00-1:00 and 4:00-6:00 on Tuesday, February 28th to help complete application forms.
Complete the 2017-2018 Crete Public Schools Preschool application form.
Provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate and immunization records to the Crete Elementary School office.
A confirmation letter of acceptance will be mailed to you when your child is accepted into Crete Public Schools Preschool for the 2017-2018 school year.
Preschool tuition for the 2017-2018 school year will be $40 per month (September-May). A sliding fee scale is available for eligible families.

Please note: Completing the application is only one step of the registration process. A copy of your child’s birth certificate and updated immunization records must be given to the Crete Elementary School office to complete your child’s registration. Only fully completed registration files will be under review for acceptance into the preschool program. Not all students who apply will be accepted. Completion of the registration process does not guarantee your child will be enrolled in preschool.

On Tuesday March 7th, 20 Crete FFA members and advisor Marc Wittstruck traveled to Southeast Community College in Beatrice for the annual District 5 Career Development Events competition. Teams included welding, natural resources, meats evaluation, horticulture, and livestock management. The Horticulture team of Bailey Donner, Katelyn Hoesche, Jayden Schorn, and Cassidy Skillett qualified for state competition in Lincoln in April.
